Nancy and the two brothers
When I meet people and ask them to choose between the two series most people cannot decide. I am stuck in the same way. I too cannot tell my favorites. Sometimes when it is raining outside and it is late in the evening I prefer a Nancy Drew book and sometimes in the late in the night I prefer a Hardy Boys book. Personally I am not overly fond of the Case Files series. They do not concentrate much on mysteries as much as they concentrate on fashion and romance mainly in the Nancy Drew Case Files. The Hardy Boys Case Files are slightly better but sometimes get too violent. The Case Files were written for the age group 12 and above. The simple mystery ones have a nice feel to them. The stories are better and the plots are amazing. While comparing the Hardy Boys and the Nancy Drew books again I really feel that the plots of the Hardy Boys book are better because these books were written in the time when women were not really important in the society. They were not expected to solve mysteries and all. But the Hardy boys had no restriction what so ever. They chased people all over the world. Nancy Drew not to be left behind did the same but I always feel that she was overshadowed by the Hardy Boys in this matter. Later in some editions the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew teamed up to solve mysteries together. There was never any real attraction between the Hardy boys and Nancy though Nancy's eyes often 'twinkled' when she spoke to the brothers. Nancy always had Ned and Frank Hardy had Callie Shaw and Joe Hardy has Iola Morton, Chet Morton's sister. Though in the first Hardy Boys casefile Iola gets killed.
